2009 Provider Recognition and Awards Ceremony
On October 29, 2009, SFHP honored providers for their dedication to serving the residents of San Francisco and excellence in health care at the 2009 Provider Recognition Dinner and Awards Ceremony. The attendees, including providers from each medical group, SFHP Governing Board Members, and SFHP Staff, gathered at 1 Fort Mason for this successful event (despite the Bay Bridge Closure and H1N1 vaccination clinics). Children’s Health Center at SFGH received the SFHP Award for Excellence for their Fluoride Varnish Program

Chronic Pain Management Collaboration
Chronic pain management can be challenging, and a collaboration of DPH and Community Clinic Consortium doctors are working together to create a common set of guidelines, practices, and patient education forms that can be used across the safety net. In this way, patients with chronic pain can expect similar high-quality, comprehensive treatment no matter where they seek care. In addition, they can experience similar practices at different clinic sites, to minimize “doctor-shopping”.

Healthy Families and Healthy Kids Co-pay Changes
San Francisco Health Plan is happy to announce the wait list for the Healthy Families Program has been lifted and the Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board (MRMIB) is in the process of enrolling children currently on the wait list. The program is also currently accepting new applications. The funding to save the Healthy Families program from disenrolling children came from significant funding through The First 5 Commission of California and the bill AB 1422. AB 1422 was signed by the Governor and will fill the more than $100 million funding
