Business Process Analyst
The Business Process Analyst is responsible for capturing and modeling existing and future-state business processes at SFHP. The Business Process Analyst will facilitate process flow elicitation and definition sessions with Business stakeholders based on both business user needs and an understanding of SFHP systems and healthcare industry.
This is a temporary position with planned employment duration of 18 months and a possibility of extension based on employee performance. Position is eligible for a full suite of SFHP benefits during employment term.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up and facilitate current-state business process elicitation/definition meetings with stakeholders and SMEs for each functional area at SFHP
- Capture process flows at the activity/task level with relevant business events, inputs/outputs to activities, business information, business process workers, task durations and associated costs for simulation purposes
- Ensure integration between business process models within and between functional areas
- Create end-to-end processes across organization boundaries where applicable
- Develop Business Process/Architecture Specifications
- Review and refine business process models and specifications with stakeholders and SMEs
- Assist in identifying improvement opportunities (manual and automated) within current-state processes
- Assist in documenting future-state business processes informed by SFHP’s strategic initiatives and existing work flows between people and systems
CORE COMPETENCIES / KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of business process modeling
- Experience with business process modeling using industry standard tools
- Ability to facilitate business process modeling work sessions with stakeholders
- Understanding of information systems, business processes, the key drivers and/or measures of success for the healthcare industry, particularly the Payor market, managed care and State-sponsored programs
- Ability to produce accurate and precise work, detect discrepancies and resolve discrepancies all while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively, independently, and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical skills and problem solving skills with the ability to formulate and communicate recommendations for improvement.
- Understand differences between Business Process Modeling and Business Use Case Modeling based business architecture development approaches
- Knowledge of formal business architecture modeling frameworks e.g. Eriksson-Penker and RUP business analysis preferred
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING REQUIRED
- A degree from a four-year college (e. g., BS), which may be substituted with equivalent work experience
- Prior experience at a healthcare organization, particularly at a managed health plan
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Business Analyst and/or a Business Process Modeler in a healthcare environment
