When you need medication, your doctor will prescribe it. To get the medication:
- Take the doctor's prescription to a participating pharmacy.
- Show your San Francisco Health Plan Member ID Card.
- Pay a small co-pay.
What is a "co-pay"?
A co-pay is the amount of money you pay for prescription medicine. As a Healthy Families Program member, your prescription co-pay for brand name and generic drugs is usually $5. Refer to the Healthy Families Program Summary of Benefits for more information on your prescription drug benefits.
If you want to see if your prescription medicine is covered, refer to the San Francisco Health Plan Drug Formulary.
